childcare TIPS FOR PARENTS
PSA #1 - Parents, the early years are important
for children and their development. Take time to find the right childcare program for your child. Look at family home and center programs.
You know your child and will need to decide if a smaller home program
or a childcare center is best.

has information on children's issues for early childhood educators, childcare providers, and parents on the Better Kid Care Web site at:

PSA #2 - When looking for childcare, spend
time with the caregivers to see who is right for your child. Select one
who is warm, caring, and energetic. Make sure she understands what children
need to develop new skills.

PSA #3 - Parents should look around and
ask questions when trying to find the right childcare. It’s a good
idea to get references from other parents with children in the program.
Most of all, a parent needs to feel good about the program and the caregiver.

PSA #4 -Some children adjust to childcare
easier than others. Take your child for a short visit to meet the caregiver
and the other children before leaving her there for the day. Talk to your
child about what it will be like. Reassure her that you will come and
get her every day after work.

PSA #5 - Establish a good-bye routine when
taking your child to childcare. Children feel secure when there is a
ritual. Never try to sneak out. It will be easier for your child if you
say just one good-bye, then leave.
