CHILD CARE TIPS FOR PARENTS
PSA #1 - Children are eager to learn when
they are happy. Understanding and kindness go a long way in helping children
grow and learn new skills. When searching for child care, parents should
find a caregiver who is both understanding and kind

PSA #2 - Quality child care programs have
caregivers who are energetic, positive, and flexible. Children are given
choices and encouraged to make decisions. They are shown how to do things.
The children are taught how to get along with others.

PSA #3 - When looking for child care, find
a program that has bright, cheerful rooms with lots of light. See if there
are areas for active play, both indoors and out. Are there lots of art
materials and chances to use them? Books should be accessible and dramatic
play on the schedule.

is used when needed. The children are encouraged to figure out how to
do things and how to resolve a conflict

PSA #5 - Parents, find a caregiver who
talks with the children and explains what they are seeing and doing throughout
the day. All children are welcomed and greeted with a smile. The caregiver
gets down to the children’s eye level when talking with them. The
children are alerted a few minutes before a change in an activity or routine.
