| 4. Click the "Unit Materials" link and follow the directions on that page to begin the lesson. | ![]() |
If you are completing a one hour lesson you may want to print the lesson using the print function in your browser. If you are completing a two hour lesson, you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to view and print the lesson materials and RealPlayer to view the videos. |

5. As you read the lesson, you might notice that some of the images have a control bar under them.
The presence of the control bar means that the image is really a video clip. Not all lessons have video segments. You can watch these clips by clicking the buttons on the control bar |
6. After you have thoroughly read the lesson materials, and viewed the videos (two hour lessons) you are ready to complete the assignments. The Web page containing the directions and links for completing the lesson opened in a new window. Closing the window should make the homepage for the lesson visible again. To access the assignments for the lesson, click the "Assignments" link on the lesson homepage. |

| Another way to access the assignments is to click the "Content" tab, click the folder for the lesson you are working on, and click the link for the assignments. | ![]() |
Note: Using the "Back" button on your browser is NOT a good way to navigate in ANGEL. Please use the navigation built into ANGEL so that the program will work correctly.
To receive training hours, you must complete and submit all of the assignments for each unit. The assignments you will see on the computer are the same as the assignments on the lesson pages.
1. To complete the assignments, click the "Assignments" link. Read the directions and click the "Begin Assignments" link. |

2. After completing your assignments, please return to the lesson folder on the "Content" page and click the link to complete the evaluation form. |

Note: The ANGEL system has a security feature that causes the system to "time out" after 90 minutes. If the system times out while you are working on an assignment, you will lose your work. A way to work around this time limit would be to type your answers in your word processor before logging in to ANGEL. Then, log in to ANGEL and copy and paste your answers from your word processor to the answer boxes for each question. The Assignments in the Web lesson are exactly the same as the questions on the Assignment pages in the print materials.
Another option would be to click the "Save Answers" button at the bottom of the page as you complete each question and then click the "Continue" button to resume your work or the "Finish Later" button to complete your assignments at a later time.
You must answer all of the questions before submitting your assignments for review. If you have an unanswered question, ANGEL will tell you which question you still need to complete. Click the link to continue.
3. After you have answered all of the questions in the assignment, click the "Submit" button to submit your answers for review. YOU CAN ONLY SUBMIT ANSWERS ONE TIME. BE SURE YOU HAVE ANSWERED ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE CLICKING THE "SUBMIT" BUTTON. If you start the Assignment but have to stop before you finish, please DON'T click the "Submit" button. You will NEED TO CLICK THE "Save Answers " BUTTON and resume answering the questions at a later time. To resume an assignment you have saved, follow the steps listed above. |

4. After clicking the "Submit" button, you will see a screen confirming that your assignment was submitted successfully. At this point, if you are not satisfied with your answers, you can not go back and change them. Make sure you are satisfied with your answers before clicking the "Submit" button. Use the print option in your browser to print this screen for your records. |

| 5. When you are finished viewing and printing the assignment, click the "Continue" link at the bottom of the summary page. This will take you to the next screen, a summary of the number of times you have submitted the assignment. | ![]() |
![]() |
| If you have a question about comments you receive, please e-mail the instructor. Don't try to change your answers and submit the assignment again. |
6. After you print a copy of your answers, click the link at the top right corner of the page to "log off." After you log off, you can log on again and complete another unit. Because of a bug in the ANGEL system, you do need to log off between lessons. You will also need to quit your browser and open it again to log back in to ANGEL. You should always log off at the end of an ANGEL session.

The computer program used to post the assignments requires each question be given a number of points. These points are not used to determine the number of training hours or CEUs you will receive for completing the lesson. Two Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare training hours will be given for successful completion of each two-hour Web-based Learning Unit. For each one-hour Web-based learning Unit you will receive one DPW training hour. Participants outside the state of Pennsylvania should check their local and state regulations regarding training requirements for licensing and registration.
We recommend that you keep a copy of your assignments with your answers. You will need to use the browser's print option and print your answers after you click the "Submit" button but before you click the "Continue" link.
When you have completed
and submitted all of the assignments for the lesson, you will need to wait
for three to five days for an instructor to read and respond to your answers.
As soon as they are posted, the instructor's responses will be available for
you to read on the computer when you return to the lesson.
After the assignments have been checked by one of our instructors, you will need to return to the lesson to read your graded comments.
| 1. Click the "Assignments" link in the lesson folder. | ![]() |
2. Click the link for the assignment that has a grade in the "Graded" column. 3. Read the comments and print a copy for your records. |

| 4. Click the "Done" button at the bottom of the page to go back to the previous screen. | ![]() |
5. After you have read the comments for all of the questions, click the log off link at the top right corner of the screen to log off. Because of a bug in the ANGEL system, you do need to log off between lessons. You will also need to quit your browser and open it again to log back in to ANGEL. |

We recommend that you keep a copy of your assignments with the comments. You can do this by using your browser's print function to print a copy. Within two weeks of receiving the comments, you will receive your training certificate in the mail for this Web-based Learning Unit.
If you want your license or registration to be credited for training requirements before its renewal date, please allow 2 - 4 weeks from the time you register for a Web-based lesson until you receive your training certificate in the mail.
